Young playwrights holding it down!

The best insight here is not that this group of playwrights are young and diverse but that this group is seen as “constantly adapting.” There is a wealth of high quality content (if not instant classics) being generated by this group. New York theatergoers and theatermakers will look back on this time with envy.

That’s a good thing…right?

Yoshimi Battles Pink Robots

Theater as a vehicle for music videos. A concept I can get behind.

The LA Times wasn’t over the moon about the production but I think they got the review right.

“McAnuff, who shaped the story with the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne, seems to enjoy the freedom of working in that space between music video and book musical.”

Maybe more musicals should enjoy that space?

The Flaming Lips’ Yoshimi Battles Pink Robots directed by Des Mcanuff at LaJolla Playhouse with puppets by Basil Twist.
